Rita's Ice Store "Sweet" on Foundation
This past June 2-3, the Tug McGraw Foundation received some sweet
treatment from Rita’s Ice Store in Boyertown, Pennsylvania.
Armed with an arsenal of delicious delectables, the friendly folks
at Rita’s showed their support for the Foundation with their
“Have An Ice Day” brain cancer fundraiser. A donation
of 10% of their total sales for those days was made to the Foundation,
and commemorative 45 YGB bracelets were sold to customers.
Buckets were available for additional donations, and raffle tickets
were sold for prizes including autographed paraphernalia from the
Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. Rita’s Ice Store contributed
a total of $1029 to support the Foundation’s mission of combating
brain cancer.
Friday evening visitors received an additional treat – a
visit from the Phillie Phanatic, the celebrated mascot for the Philadelphia
Phillies! Guests loaded up on their favorite treats – Italian
ices, frozen custards, cream ices, Gelatis, and other delectables
– while the Phanatic posed for pictures and joined in the
festivities.

This special fundraiser was the brainchild of seventeen-year-old
Mark Levengood. Mark has a special affection for the Tug McGraw
Foundation, as he had his own brain tumor removed at the age of
thirteen and lost his sight in the struggle. This event was established
in his honor, and it was Levengood that determined that the proceeds
from the event were to be donated to the Foundation.
The Tug McGraw Foundation thanks Parrish Stauffer, Mark Levengood,
and all the staff at Rita’s Ice Store for their support of
this event. Visit their website by clicking Rita's
Ice Store.
