Team McGraw Completes ING New York City Marathon 2007

Team McGraw completed the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, collectively raising more than $200,000 to support the Tug McGraw Foundation’s efforts to improve quality of life for brain tumor patients and their caregivers through pioneering research that explores the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual impact of brain tumors.  The New York Road Runners (NYRR) selected Tug McGraw Foundation as one of their 2007 marathon charity partners.

Each member of Team McGraw ran in honor or in memory of someone affected by this devastating disease.   Over the past 10 years, brain tumor research has advanced significantly, yet the reality of living with a brain tumor remains the same.  Brain tumors alter thought, emotion, memory, movement and language.  Quality of life research is recognized as a needed component of brain tumor care.

The Tug McGraw Foundation is a nonprofit organization established by legendary New York Mets (1965-1974) and Philadelphia Phillies (1975-1984) left-handed relief pitcher, Frank Edwin “Tug” McGraw, his son Tim McGraw, and his friend and caretaker Jennifer Brusstar, before his death from a brain tumor in 2004.
