2007 Caregiver of the Year Award

Do you know someone who has made a positive difference in the life of a person with a brain tumor?

Each year, the Tug McGraw Foundation receives hundreds of letters from patients describing their gratitude for the person who has helped care for them.  Our Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for brain tumor patients and caregivers.  Annually, we present three awards; this year, we are adding a fourth - Caregiver of the Year.

The Caregiver of the Year will be honored at the 2007 Tug McGraw Gala in St. Louis on November 2, 2007.  The Tug McGraw Foundation will provide the Caregiver with a trip for two to St. Louis to receive the award, including domestic coach airfare, a one-night hotel stay, and Gala tickets for the Caregiver and Guest.  The winner’s essay and story will appear on the Tug McGraw Foundation’s website.

What defines a great caregiver?  Caregivers are often unsung heroes.  From professional caregivers to family and friends, a caregiver helps manage the physical, mental, emotional and social well-being of the patient. Every story is unique, but the Tug McGraw Foundation seeks out those that have embraced the “Ya Gotta Believe” spirit that Tug McGraw exemplified.

Candidates may be nominated by anyone – patient, family member, co-worker, friend, or even themselves – for their care and support of a pediatric or adult patient with a brain or spinal chord tumor or metastasized brain cancer during the past twelve months.

Please describe in 300 words or less why your nominee should be recognized as Caregiver of the Year.  Submit your nomination by July 15, 2007 to:
